The hardness of a grinding wheel refers to the difficulty of the abrasive grains on the surface of the grinding wheel to fall off under the action of grinding force. How to choose the hardness of a grinding wheel?

1. Choose a harder grinding wheel when grinding soft materials, and a softer grinding wheel when grinding hard materials;

2. The hardness of the grinding wheel when grinding with coolant is 1~2 grades higher than that when grinding with dry grinding;

3. When grinding soft and tough non-ferrous metals, the hardness should be selected to be softer;

4. When grinding the end surface than the circumference, the hardness of the grinding wheel should be selected to be softer;

5. Under the same grinding conditions, the hardness of a resin bonded grinding wheel is 1~2 grades higher than that of a ceramic bonded grinding wheel;

6. A softer grinding wheel should be selected for materials with poor thermal conductivity;

7. When the rotation speed of the grinding wheel is high, the hardness of the grinding wheel can be selected to be 1~2 grades softer.
